Most of what I share centers on helping investors find an informational edge through valuable data and better relationships. So when my friend and fellow data-driven investor, David Teten, asked me to join the advisory board of Investors for a Better America (IBA), a new initiative bringing investors together for nonpartisan discussion about the civic and societal conditions behind long-term prosperity in America, I was happy to expand my usual mandate.

Members of the Amass Insights or DMN communities are invited to IBA on Thursday, September 3 in Manhattan at Fordham Gabelli School of Business's McNally Amphitheatre, 140 W. 62nd Street for a full day of panels, interactive sessions and investor discussions. This inaugural conference features speakers including current and former leaders from Millennium, Rothschild Asset Management, Harvard Management Company, Goldman Sachs, B Capital Group, First Round Capital, Renaissance Technologies, the District of Columbia Retirement Board, International Finance Corporation, Cantor Fitzgerald and TIAA-CREF, among others.

Admission is complimentary for principals of family offices, foundations, endowments and other institutional investors with at least $100 million AUM who do not manage outside capital.

IBA convenes institutional investors, business leaders, and civic experts for deliberately nonpartisan discussions around a fairly straightforward thesis: a free and fair democracy is foundational to a strong investment climate. đŸ‡ºđŸ‡¸ IBA believes capitalism depends on some conditions that markets can't manufacture on their own, including:

  • a representative and accountable democracy with safeguards against corruption and over-centralization,
  • social trust,
  • an effective and fiscally responsible government with an independent Federal Reserve,
  • the ability to recruit great talent globally, and
  • stable, strong alliances and open, rules-based trade.

The event is convened by Mediators Foundation, a nonpartisan 501(c)(3).
